World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day- April 26, from 10:00 to 11:00 @ Bowdoin College, on the Hatch Quad (rain location- Morrell Gym). WTCQD founder Bill Douglas started this annual event ten years ago. Held on the last Saturday of April at 10:00 am, practitioners around the world gather in their communities for a global celebration of Tai Chi & Qigong. It's free- anyone interested is invited to attend and participate or just watch; no prior experience necessary. Meet on the Bowdoin College campus, in front of Walker Art Museum. Taiji Ball Workshop- July 19, from 9:00 to 11:00 @ Bowdoin College. Ken Ryan, instructor. Taiji Ball is one of the most effective methods for training the body- connection, strength and flexibility. The workshop will focus on standing and moving Qigong for health and Taijiquan. Particular focus on articulating the spine, which is central to the transfer of "power from the ground, directed by the waist..", a hallmark of Taiji movement. Vinalhaven Retreat September 13 & 14. Our annual retreat to beautiful Vinalhaven Island in Penobscot Bay will include Taijiquan, Qigong, and plenty of warm friendship and hanging out together. More information to come- sign up early.
Zhang San Feng Festival- June 5-8, Catskills, NY. The Zhang Festival- "the oldest T'ai chi festival in America"- originated by Master Jou Tsung Hwa at his Taiji Farm, is currently three days of workshops presented by a wide range of instructors covering a variety of interesting subjects. There is something for everyone, not to mention the chance to meet other players and see what they are learning. Last year was our first try, and those who went are eager to go back.
